ISLAMABAD; The Government of Japan has conferred the Japanese Foreign Minister’s Commendation 2025 on Ms. Neveen Syed, Chairperson of the Lahore Floritage Sogetsu Study Group, in recognition of her outstanding efforts to promote cultural relations and mutual understanding between Japan and Pakistan.
The announcement of the award was made by Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on August 28 this year. The commendation was formally presented by the Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Akamatsu Shuichi, on behalf of the Japanese Foreign Minister, during the annual Ikebana flower arrangement exhibition hosted by the Lahore Floritage Sogetsu Study Group.
The Lahore Floritage Sogetsu Study Group, led by Ms. Neveen, is dedicated to teaching and promoting the Japanese art of flower arrangement known as Ikebana. Through classes, workshops, and exhibitions, the group has been instrumental in introducing Japanese culture to people across Pakistan.
Ambassador Akamatsu congratulated Ms. Neveen Syed, stating that the Foreign Minister’s Commendation reflects Japan’s deep appreciation of her commitment to fostering friendship and cultural exchange between the two nations. He lauded her as a true bridge of goodwill, strengthening people-to-people connections through art and culture.
He further expressed hope that Ms. Neveen would continue her valuable efforts in promoting Ikebana and Japanese traditions in Pakistan, inspiring greater cultural collaboration in the years ahead.
