Islamabad: Etisalat Group of UAE Monday appreciated the Government of Pakistan’s consistent support.
The Group has also reaffirmed it’s long-term commitment to the Pakistani market.
The Group has further expressed it’s keen interest in contributing to digital growth in Pakistan and connectivity goals.
The appreciation as well as reaffirmation was made during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Etisalat Group’s delegation led by CEO Hatem Dowidar.
The meeting was attended by the Minister for IT, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, National Coordinator SIFC, Secretaries IT & Commerce, & Privatization, and senior Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials.
The DPM/FM highlighted Pakistan’s growing digital economy and the government’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment. He invited Etisalat Group to expand its investments in the country’s ICT and telecom sectors.
Earlier Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with a high-level delegation from the UAE-based telecommunications giant Etisalat Group, led by CEO Hatem Dowidar, to discuss enhanced investment opportunities in Pakistan.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister offered the company expanded access to invest in various sectors of Pakistan’s economy, assuring that the government would provide all necessary facilitation to support such ventures.
Emphasizing the deep-rooted relations between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates—based on shared culture, brotherhood, and religious values—the Prime Minister highlighted the longstanding contributions of Emirati companies to Pakistan’s economic development. He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to providing a business-friendly environment for all foreign investors, including those from the UAE.
CEO Hatem Dowidar praised Pakistan’s recent investor-friendly policies, noting the significant improvement in the country’s business climate for international firms. He stated that Etisalat Group has been operating successfully in Pakistan for the past 19 years and is eager to expand its footprint through new investment opportunities.
Dowidar added that over 10,000 Pakistanis are currently employed by the company, underscoring Etisalat’s strong ties with the local workforce. He expressed confidence in Pakistan’s economic potential and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to long-term, sustainable investment in the country.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Minister for IT Shaza Fatima Khawaja, and senior officials from relevant departments.
