ISLAMABAD (MNN); Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Tuesday emphasized that dialogue and diplomacy are the only effective means to resolve conflicts and ensure lasting peace in the region.
He made these remarks during a meeting with Reza Amiri Moghaddam, Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, according to the Foreign Office.
In a statement shared on X, the Foreign Office said the Iranian envoy appreciated the strong moral support extended by the people of Pakistan during the ongoing crisis. Dar expressed condolences over the loss of lives and voiced hope for an early resolution to the conflict, reiterating the importance of peaceful engagement.
The situation comes amid escalating tensions in the Middle East following US-Israeli strikes on Iran, with Tehran responding by targeting US assets in Gulf countries. Pakistan has described its role as that of a “bridge builder” in the crisis.
Earlier, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi thanked Pakistan’s government and people for their solidarity and support during what he termed aggression by the United States and Israel.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Ishaq Dar have been in contact with leaders of various countries, urging de-escalation. The prime minister also held discussions with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to explore the possibility of a ceasefire.
In addition, Shehbaz Sharif recently visited Saudi Arabia, where he met Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman and reaffirmed Pakistan’s support while agreeing to work jointly for regional stability.
