Web Desk; Bollywood actress Celina Jaitly has made an emotional plea to the Indian government for assistance regarding her brother, retired Army Major Vikrant Kumar Jaitly, who has been held in the United Arab Emirates since September 2024.
She described the past 14 months as a “nightmare” during which she had little information about his whereabouts or well-being.
Last week the Delhi High Court took notice of the case, directing the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to file a status report within four weeks and to appoint a nodal officer to coordinate legal and family access.
The court ordered that Major Jaitly be given legal representation and permitted communication with his sister.
In a heartfelt social media post, Celina wrote: “You fought for us, bhai — now it’s time for us to stand behind you.” She emphasised that she is “just a soldier’s sister” and appealed for his safe return, adding that her brother belongs to a fourth-generation military family and was a decorated veteran.
The MEA confirmed Indian consular officials have visited Major Jaitly in the UAE on four occasions, the latest in September 2025. Meanwhile, the next court hearing is scheduled for December 4.
