BELEM; Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif arrived in Belem, Brazil, to attend the Global COP-30 Climate Conference, which began on Monday and will continue until November 21.
During her visit, Maryam Nawaz will inaugurate the Pakistan Pavilion and deliver a keynote address showcasing Punjab’s vision for environmental sustainability and climate resilience.
Her speech will highlight major provincial initiatives, including the “Suthra Punjab” and “Green Punjab” programs, the promotion of electric vehicles, and efforts to conserve and expand forests and wildlife.
The Punjab chief minister’s participation underscores Punjab’s growing role in shaping climate-friendly policies and reflects Pakistan’s commitment to achieving a sustainable, eco-resilient future.
On the sidelines of the conference, Maryam Nawaz is expected to hold meetings with global leaders, heads of international environmental organisations, and climate experts to discuss collaborative strategies for sustainable development and climate adaptation.
She is accompanied by Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat, and Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique.
Maryam’s presence at COP-30 marks a significant moment for Pakistan, emphasizing provincial leadership in tackling climate change and promoting green growth through global partnerships.
