Gandapur Leads Defiant March to Lahore, Slams ‘Illegal’ Punjab Ouster of MPAs

ISLAMABAD; Chairman PTI Barrister Gohar has clarified that only parliamentarians are heading to Lahore and there is no question of arrests.

Speaking to the media outside KP House in Islamabad, he stressed, “Arrests are not possible. Only parliamentarians are going. We are in touch with colleagues in Punjab, who are also elected representatives.”

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur stated that the KP government’s caravan is purely to show solidarity with members who have been expelled from the Punjab Assembly.

He emphasized that this move is a peaceful response to what he termed as “illegal and unconstitutional actions.”

“This is not a protest but an expression of support,” Gandapur said. “We carry a message of peace, love, and tolerance. Our aim is not to create disorder but to uphold democratic values. We want to show that we stand with democratic representatives.”

This development comes after the Speaker of the Punjab Assembly recently suspended the membership of 26 opposition lawmakers for creating a disturbance during a budget session, and announced sending a reference for their disqualification to the Election Commission.

The KP leadership argues that these measures undermine democratic norms, prompting them to organize a show of solidarity with the affected parliamentarians in Lahore.
