Web Desk; Security forces killed six members of the India-backed militant group Fitna al-Hindustan during a major operation in the Dalbandin area of Chagai district, Balochistan, on Wednesday, according to security sources.
The operation was launched after aerial reconnaissance identified the terrorist formation hiding in mountainous terrain. Officials said that a swift and precise action by Pakistani forces completely dismantled the network, eliminating a key threat to both civilians and military personnel in the region.
In a separate intelligence-based operation in the Bajaur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, security forces targeted the hideouts and tunnels of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), also known as Fitna al-Khawarij. One terrorist was killed in a fierce exchange of fire at a cave in the Shahi Tangi forest, while several others fled after being injured. Weapons, explosives, and communication devices were recovered from the site.
Pakistan has seen a sharp surge in cross-border terrorist activity, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since the Afghan Taliban took control of Afghanistan in 2021. Islamabad has repeatedly expressed concern over militant groups operating from Afghan soil and carrying out attacks inside Pakistan.
Tensions escalated after Taliban-backed militants attacked several Pakistan Army posts on October 12. In retaliation, Pakistani forces carried out targeted strikes in Afghanistan’s Kandahar province and Kabul, killing over 200 militants affiliated with the Afghan Taliban and their allied groups. Twenty-three Pakistani soldiers also lost their lives in the clashes.
Following the escalation, both nations agreed to a temporary ceasefire. Delegations from Pakistan and Afghanistan are expected to meet in Istanbul, Turkiye, on October 25 to discuss key security and border issues.
