KARACHI; The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) announced on Wednesday that it will hold a massive public rally in Karachi next month to officially begin its nationwide public engagement campaign.

According to a party press release, the decision was made during PTI Secretary General Barrister Salman Akram Raja’s visit to Karachi, where he met senior party figures including Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh, Parliamentary Leader Shabbir Qureshi, and Jamal Siddiqui. The discussions focused on the prevailing political situation, strategies for the release of PTI founder Imran Khan, and internal party organization.

Speaking to the media, Raja revealed that the Karachi rally will be followed by similar gatherings in Hyderabad and other major cities across the country. He emphasized that the party remains united and fully mobilized for Imran Khan’s release.

Raja also announced several recent appointments, including Mahmood Khan Achakzai as Opposition Leader in the National Assembly, Raja Nasir Abbas in the Senate, and Sohail Afridi as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Chief Minister — describing these moves as signs of “a wave of political renewal within PTI.”

Reaffirming PTI’s commitment to constitutional supremacy and the rule of law, Raja said that all false cases against Imran Khan are collapsing in court despite ongoing efforts to delay justice. “Truth and justice will prevail,” he stated.

Quoting Imran Khan’s message to the nation, Raja said the PTI founder urged supporters to stay steadfast in faith and continue raising their voice against injustice through peaceful rallies.

Raja also expressed serious concern over Sindh’s deteriorating situation, accusing the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) of “plundering public resources and turning Sindh into ruins over the past 17 years.” He said lawlessness and misgovernance have left citizens in distress, but added that people across Sindh are now demanding change and expressing strong support for Imran Khan.

Imran Khan, imprisoned since August 2023 in a £190 million corruption case, continues to face several legal challenges, including cases under the Anti-Terrorism Act related to the May 9 protests. PTI has repeatedly condemned the restrictions on his family, friends, and lawyers from meeting him and has called for his immediate release.
