ISLAMABAD; The hearing of the controversial tweet case against Eman Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha was held at the District and Sessions Court Islamabad on Tuesday.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka presided over the proceedings. Both accused, Eman Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha, appeared before the court.
The defense requested the court to adjourn the hearing, citing the unavailability of their lawyers. The prosecution opposed the request, arguing that the accused were deliberately trying to delay the trial.
Prosecutor Usman Rana told the court that the defense had also sought time during the previous hearing. He urged the court to reject the request and proceed with the trial.
Judge Majoka remarked that if Hadi Ali Chatha’s lawyer fails to appear at the next hearing, a state counsel will be appointed for him.
Neither Mazari nor Chatha submitted their response to the charges during Tuesday’s proceedings. The court directed both accused to submit their replies on the next date of hearing.
The court adjourned the case until October 11. The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has registered a case against both individuals.
