ISLAMABAD; The District and Sessions Court Islamabad has yet to proceed with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) private complaint regarding the November 26, 2023 incident, where the party had alleged “mass killings” of its workers.

According to case details, PTI had filed the complaint on behalf of allegedly deceased and injured workers. However, during the hearings, the party has sought adjournments more than ten times, citing reasons such as unavailability of death and medical certificates, as well as lawyers’ professional engagements.

These repeated requests have resulted in at least eight consecutive hearings being adjourned without progress.

Almost ten months have passed, yet PTI’s senior leader Barrister Gohar has not been able to record his preliminary statement, a necessary step before the complaint can formally move forward. Court officials clarified that without this initial testimony, proceedings cannot advance.

PTI initially accused law enforcement authorities of carrying out a violent crackdown on November 26, 2023, resulting in the death and injury of party workers. However, a prior plea seeking registration of an FIR was dismissed by the court. Similarly, PTI’s separate petition regarding an alleged raid at the KP House was also rejected earlier.

The repeated delays in this private complaint have raised questions about PTI’s legal strategy, with critics suggesting the party is attempting to avoid substantive proceedings on its own allegations.
