KARACHI; Significant progress has been made in the investigation of the high-profile murder of senior lawyer Khawaja Shams ul Islam, who was killed in Karachi on August 1.
Authorities have arrested Hassan, a key facilitator of the prime suspect Imran Afridi, from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). The car used in the murder has also been recovered from Hassan’s possession.
According to police sources, Hassan fled the crime scene along with Imran Afridi in the same vehicle immediately after the murder. T
The police are now interrogating Hassan to gather information that could lead to the arrest of Afridi, who remains at large. Authorities have intensified raids and operations to capture the main accused.
Meanwhile, lawyers across Karachi, including those in city courts, Malir courts, and other subordinate courts, have staged strikes in protest against the murder of Khawaja Shams ul Islam and other attacks on legal professionals. Due to the strike, court hearings in these jurisdictions have been temporarily suspended.
