Pakistan and China to deepen police cooperation with focus on AI, anti-riot, and counterterrorism training

Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi Tuesday met with a high-level delegation from the Beijing Police Department to strengthen cooperation between the Islamabad and Beijing police forces. The meeting concluded with agreements on specialized training for Islamabad Police in modern policing techniques, artificial intelligence, and anti-riot strategies, aiming to enhance Pakistan’s capacity in counterterrorism, organized crime, drug trafficking, and human smuggling.

The Chinese delegation was led by Deputy Director General Gao Jianzan of the Beijing Police Department and included senior officials such as Li Yuhang, Deputy Director General of China’s Ministry of Public Security. From Pakistan’s side, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, the Federal Secretary Interior, DG FIA, and IG Islamabad were also in attendance.

Minister Naqvi emphasized the value of learning from the technologically advanced and well-equipped Beijing Police, noting that such cooperation will significantly upgrade Islamabad Police’s operational effectiveness. He welcomed China’s offer to train Pakistani officers in artificial intelligence applications and modern policing methods, and underlined the importance of timely intelligence sharing between the two nations to combat transnational threats.

Naqvi expressed gratitude to the Beijing Police for their commitment to supporting Pakistan’s internal security efforts, calling the engagement a milestone in bilateral law enforcement collaboration.
