PESHAWAR: A petition has been filed in a Peshawar court seeking the registration of an “Amanat Mein Khiyanat” (Abuse of Trust) case against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.

The Sessions Court Peshawar has issued notices to the respondents on this petition, filed under Section 22-A, and has sought their replies by July 12. The case came up for hearing on Thursday before Additional District and Sessions Judge Asmat Ullah Wazir.

During the proceedings, the petitioner’s counsel argued that CM Gandapur allocated Rs 50 million (5 crore) from the provincial funds to the Lahore Bar Association (LBA), which, he contended, constituted a misuse of public money entrusted to the province. He maintained that this act amounted to a breach of public trust, rendering the Chief Minister no longer “Sadiq” (truthful) and “Amin” (honest) as required by constitutional standards.

The counsel further asserted that such spending violated multiple constitutional provisions and contradicted precedents set by the Supreme Court. He informed the court that despite submitting applications to relevant police officials to register a case against the Chief Minister, no action had been taken.

Consequently, the petitioner requested the court to direct the authorities concerned to formally register a case against CM Gandapur under charges of abuse of trust.

Following the arguments, the court issued notices to all respondents and adjourned further proceedings until July 12, awaiting their written replies.
