Quetta: Three people, including a young girl and two youths, lost their lives in separate incidents of lightning strikes and a wall collapse amid severe weather in Balochistan’s districts of Washuk, Loralai, and Musa Khel.
According to details provided by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), reports of losses have been pouring in from various districts across Balochistan following intense lightning and wind storms. The PDMA confirmed that several houses were damaged as a result of flash floods triggered by heavy downpours.
In Washuk district, torrential rains caused significant harm to residential properties, boundary walls, and agricultural lands. The authorities have initiated a survey to assess and compile the final estimates of damages incurred in the affected areas.
Tragically, in district Loralai, a girl identified as Aleezay Jan died when a wall collapsed due to heavy rainfall. Meanwhile, in district Musa Khel, two young men, Abdul Haleem and Jamal Din, lost their lives after being struck by lightning during the storms.
The PDMA is continuing its efforts to gather comprehensive data from all affected regions to determine the full scale of the destruction. Officials have urged local administrations to remain alert and ensure timely assistance to people impacted by the adverse weather conditions. The authority has also emphasized the importance of taking precautionary measures during such extreme weather events to prevent further loss of life and property.
Relief operations and necessary aid are expected to be mobilized once the damage assessments are completed, aiming to support the affected families and restore normalcy in the rain-hit areas.
