Lahore: PML-N leader and former federal minister Khawaja Saad Rafiq has said suspending the membership is constitutional power of speaker but no effort be made for permanent disqualification of members of Punjab Assembly (PA`).
Speaking on the matter related to suspension of opposition members of Punjab Assembly (PA) he said the issue which has arisen in the provincial assembly should be resolved within assembly. All the parties will have to play their role in this respect, he added.
He cautioned if this tradition of disqualifying members of assembly is set then the coming assemblies will also pass through this passage. Then all parties including PML-N will be expelled from this passage.
When former Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gillani was ousted from premiership then he was too against that step. I had said at that time too that tradition of ousting prime ministers from back door is dangerous for democracy.
Be compassionate on emaciated democracy. Don’t give your turban in the hands of others.
The political differences be resolved within parliamentary ambit and democratic system be not weakened further, he added.
