ISLAMABAD (MNN); Pakistan’s opposition alliance, Tehreek Tahaffuz Ayeen-e-Pakistan (TTAP), has agreed to respond positively to the government’s offer for negotiations, sources said on Thursday.
The decision was made during a consultative meeting of alliance leaders in Islamabad, attended by Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Allama Nasir Abbas, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, Asad Qaiser, Akhunzada Hussain Yousafzai, and Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry.
The participants reviewed the government’s proposal and recent statements by senior leader Rana Sanaullah. Sources said Salman Akram Raja, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, and PTI’s central leadership advised alliance heads to formally engage with the government.
Following internal consensus, Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Allama Nasir Abbas were authorized to move forward with the negotiations. Contacts with key government figures are expected during the holy month of Ramadan after final approval from allied parties.
The formal declaration of the meeting is expected soon and will likely include a key demand for immediate medical treatment and access for PTI founding chairman Imran Khan.
PTI leaders Junaid Akbar and Atif Khan emphasized that political issues should be resolved through dialogue rather than confrontation with state institutions. They confirmed that all allied parties participated and unanimously empowered Achakzai and Nasir Abbas to represent the alliance in negotiations.
