RAWALPINDI (MNN); Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir on Thursday reaffirmed the Pakistan Army’s zero-tolerance policy against any threat to national security, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.
According to ISPR, the army chief made the remarks while addressing officers during his visit to Lahore Garrison. He stressed that the armed forces would continue to confront evolving challenges with professionalism, resolve and determination.
The statement said Field Marshal Munir underscored the military’s unwavering commitment to protecting Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and internal stability, while upholding discipline, excellence and selfless service to the nation.
During the visit, the Lahore corps commander received the army chief and briefed him in detail on the formation’s operational readiness, training standards and ongoing initiatives aimed at improving combat effectiveness.
ISPR said the COAS also observed a specialised field training exercise featuring modern technologies, reflecting the army’s focus on innovation and adaptability in response to the changing nature of future battlefields.
Field Marshal Munir inspected sports and recreational facilities for troops, highlighting their role in ensuring physical fitness, boosting morale and maintaining overall well-being.
He also visited a care centre at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Lahore, where he appreciated the efforts of the medical staff and administration in setting up a fully equipped, modern healthcare facility.
The remarks come in the wake of recent statements by the military spokesperson, who said Afghanistan had turned into a hub for terrorists and non-state actors, describing the ruling Taliban as the “mother organisation” that has been sheltering such groups since 2021.
In an extended press conference, the spokesperson also discussed strained relations with Afghanistan, rising tensions with India, and criticised political developments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the politics associated with Imran Khan, without naming him directly.
Last month, the army’s top leadership had also cautioned political forces against weakening national unity through agitation or provocative rhetoric, and pledged firm action against what it termed India-backed terrorist proxies.
