LAHORE (MNN); The Punjab government has cleared 1,005 land-related disputes within just 48 hours, a development officials described as a landmark step against illegal land occupation across the province.
The progress was shared in a report presented on Saturday during a high-level review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
The session focused on the outcomes of the newly introduced Property Ordinance, designed to fast-track verdicts and ensure immediate physical transfer of land to rightful owners.
During the meeting, CM Maryam stressed that delays, negligence, or recommendations in such matters would not be accepted. She instructed authorities to give priority to cases involving women and ensure that every decision resulted in prompt possession on ground.
She remarked that a decision holds no value unless the owner physically receives the land. She said property ownership must not remain limited to documents, but should reflect in practical possession.
Officials briefed that several families, who had been battling their cases for years, were finally given possession of their property within two days.
Maryam Nawaz reaffirmed that land belongs only to lawful owners, regardless of size—whether a marla, kanal or acre.
She encouraged citizens to report encroachments directly to their district deputy commissioners, assuring swift action and timely resolution. She reiterated strong implementation of the ordinance and full protection of property rights throughout Punjab.
