Islamabad: Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP), Mr. Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, held an interactive session with selected candidates of the Parliament Internship Programme. The session, themed “Engaging Youth for a Responsible Democracy,” brought together 200 outstanding students from across the country—chosen from over 16,000 applicants—for a four-week internship within the Parliament of Pakistan.

During the session, Chairman Rana Mashhood underscored the vital role of youth in shaping a responsible, democratic society. He commended the selected interns for their enthusiasm and potential, and provided an overview of PMYP’s vision and key initiatives. His address included discussions on democracy as a shared responsibility, the importance of civic engagement, and the role of PMYP in embedding democratic values through practical exposure and structured mentorship.

Among the interns were 25 students from Sukkur IBA University and 30 from Aitchison College, reflecting the programme’s wide national reach and commitment to inclusivity. The session featured vibrant dialogue, including a Q&A segment where participants engaged directly with the Chairman, sharing ideas and seeking guidance on contributing effectively to national development.

Chairman Rana Mashhood also highlighted flagship PMYP initiatives such as Perfect Pitch, a televised innovation platform connecting youth entrepreneurs with investors, and the PM’s Cricket Talent Hunt Trials, which started in Quetta and is now expanding nationwide in collaboration with Lahore Qalandars. He encouraged interns to join the Digital Youth Hub, a centralized platform providing opportunities in education, employment, engagement, and empowerment, and urged them to raise awareness among their peers.

The internship programme continues to serve as a crucial platform for cultivating future leaders, equipping them with firsthand experience in policymaking, governance, and civic responsibility—ensuring that Pakistan’s democratic future is shaped by informed and active youth.
