DIR (MNN); Police in Lower Dir have arrested three suspects in connection with the shooting at Pakistani cricketer Naseem Shah’s residence in Mayar earlier this month, officials reported on Saturday.

The attack occurred in the early hours of November 10, around 1:45am, when unidentified gunmen opened fire on the main gate of Naseem Shah’s house, leaving bullet marks on doors, walls, and windows. The assailants fled immediately, and the family remained unharmed.

A special police team, led by SP Investigations Rashid Ahmed Khan and including SDPO Jandol Circle Alim Khan, SHO Mayar Idrees Khan, and CIO Hayat Muhammad Khan, conducted a detailed investigation. Reviewing CCTV footage and other evidence, the police identified the suspects after Naseem’s father, Zafar Shah, nominated them in the case.

All three suspects reportedly confessed during interrogation. Police said the attack was linked to a recent land dispute between two local families. “A few days before the incident, a disagreement over land escalated.

On the day of the attack, one party was cultivating wheat on disputed land when the other allegedly opened fire. Since relatives of Naseem’s mother were connected to one of the families, his house was targeted,” an official explained.

Authorities have increased security around the cricketer’s residence, and investigations are ongoing. Residents described Naseem Shah’s family as respected and law-abiding, expressing relief at the swift arrests. “The arrests have brought some peace to our community,” a relative said.
