RAWALPINDI; The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has officially blocked the computerised national identity card (CNIC) and passport of Aleema Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, following the directives of an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Rawalpindi.

The court had ordered the move after Aleema repeatedly failed to appear before it in a case related to the November 26 protest, in which she is one of 10 accused.

During Thursday’s hearing, presided over by ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah, other suspects and prosecution witnesses were present, but Aleema Khan and her legal team once again remained absent.

Special Prosecutor Zaheer Shah and his team represented the prosecution. Due to her repeated absences, the court reissued non-bailable arrest warrants for Aleema Khan for the sixth time.

NADRA submitted a compliance report confirming that her CNIC and passport had been blocked in accordance with the court’s instructions.

Separately, the court heard the case of another suspect, Arif Khan, who had taken custody of a vehicle used during the November 26 protest. As he failed to submit the required surety bonds, the court ordered his imprisonment.

The hearing was adjourned after the judge directed the prosecution to ensure full compliance with the court’s previous orders before the next session.
