ISLAMABAD (MNN); Amid ongoing efforts by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf to secure the release of former prime minister Imran Khan, the party’s Islamabad chapter on Tuesday unveiled a proposed roadmap, stressing that success depends on a comprehensive and well-coordinated strategy.
The development comes after the party announced plans to begin registrations for a post-Eid movement aimed at securing Khan’s release. He has been in custody since May 2023.
Islamabad chapter president Amir Mughal said a detailed and practical plan had been submitted to Secretary General Salman Akram Raja, outlining steps to ensure democratic stability and the release of detained party members.
Mughal emphasized that overcoming current political challenges would not be possible without a realistic roadmap aligned with ground realities. He highlighted internal accountability as a key priority, stating that party office-bearers and ticket holders must be evaluated based on their performance since Khan’s arrest.
He proposed a six-point agenda, including the release of all political detainees, supremacy of the Constitution and rule of law, reduction in inflation, elimination of corruption and poor governance, job creation, and improved law and order.
The PTI leader also stressed the importance of delivering a unified message across all party levels to maintain clarity and direction.
He called for organised public engagement through peaceful and lawful gatherings across districts on a rotational basis to ensure sustained visibility. Similar coordinated efforts, he suggested, should be extended nationwide.
Mughal identified youth mobilisation as a central pillar of the movement, urging young people to actively participate in democratic processes beyond social media platforms.
He further underlined the need for an effective communication strategy, recommending collaboration with social media influencers and responsible journalists to ensure accurate dissemination of information.
Additionally, he proposed engaging overseas Pakistanis to amplify the party’s message globally and provide support within legal limits.
Mughal also highlighted the importance of activating the party’s legal wing to strengthen advocacy efforts and uphold constitutional principles through lawful means.
