DUBAI (MNN); President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday held a meeting with Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to discuss further strengthening bilateral relations, with particular emphasis on economic, trade and investment collaboration.
The meeting took place at Zabeel Palace, where both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing long-standing brotherly ties between Pakistan and the UAE. They expressed satisfaction over the steady progress and positive direction of bilateral relations.
President Zardari congratulated Sheikh Mohammed on completing 20 years as the Ruler of Dubai and lauded the emirate’s remarkable transformation into a global centre for tourism, financial services and emerging technologies.
According to a statement issued by the President Secretariat Media Wing, the two sides exchanged views on benefiting from Dubai’s development model, especially in the areas of ports, logistics, infrastructure development, information technology and digital financial services.
The meeting was attended by First Lady Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates.
President Zardari highlighted Pakistan’s ongoing economic reforms, including measures aimed at investment facilitation and privatisation. He also discussed opportunities to expand cooperation in infrastructure projects, logistics, food security and technology-based sectors.
During the meeting, President Zardari extended an invitation to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to visit Pakistan.
Both leaders stressed the importance of continued high-level exchanges and recalled the recent visit of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Pakistan. They also acknowledged the UAE’s continued support for Pakistan’s economic development.
The two sides further noted the significant role played by the Pakistani community in the UAE in strengthening people-to-people relations between the two brotherly nations.
