MOSCOW; A crucial meeting of the regional quartet comprising Russia, China, Iran, and Pakistan was held in Moscow on the eve of the seventh session of the Moscow Format of Consultations on Afghanistan (MFC).
The discussions brought together special representatives from the four countries, with Zamir Kabulov, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Afghanistan, representing the Russian side.
The quartet, which functions as the contact group of the Moscow Format, held in-depth talks on major agenda points for the upcoming October 7 session. These included coordinating positions on key regional concerns and working on the draft of the final document to be adopted at the meeting.
The Moscow Format, launched in 2017, is a multilateral platform aimed at promoting regional consensus and stability in Afghanistan.
It brings together regional powers to address security, political, and humanitarian challenges in the country following the Taliban’s return to power in 2021.
