RAWALPINDI; The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Monday heard a petition seeking a medical check-up of the PTI founder.
During proceedings before Judge Amjid Ali Shah, the prosecution submitted a report from the jail superintendent. According to the report, the PTI founder has undergone 31 medical examinations over the past 21 months, including three instances where his personal physicians were also present. Senior doctors from public hospitals in Rawalpindi and Islamabad conducted the examinations.
The report further stated that all necessary treatment facilities recommended by doctors are available in the jail hospital. Complaints such as toothache, shoulder and foot pain, and digestive issues were addressed with appropriate medical care. The last check-up, focused on eye health, was conducted on August 29.
Prosecutor Syed Zaheer Shah informed the court that the PTI founder is being provided with top-quality treatment facilities at government expense. However, his lawyers sought additional time to present arguments on the medical report.
The court adjourned the hearing on the medical examination petition until September 24. Hearings on the PTI founder’s bail pleas in seven cases related to the November protests were also postponed to the same date.
