New Punjab Law: All Motorbikes must pass annual fitness tests
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterSend on Whatsapp

LAHORE; In a move aimed at curbing road accidents, the Punjab government has made it mandatory for all motorbikes across the province to have a fitness certificate.

This decision comes as part of broader efforts to improve road safety, given the rising number of motorcycle-related accidents in Punjab.

To implement this measure, the relevant law has been amended, making it compulsory for motorbike owners to secure a one-year fitness certificate following an official inspection of their vehicles.

The Transport Department has urged the public to ensure their motorcycles are properly checked and certified to meet safety standards.

Previously, fitness checks were largely limited to commercial vehicles, leaving private motorcycles outside regular scrutiny despite their heavy presence on the roads.

By extending this requirement to motorbikes, the government hopes to enforce stricter compliance with maintenance standards, thereby reducing mechanical faults that often lead to accidents.
