Yekaterinburg, Russia: A senior Pakistani delegation, led by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan, is currently in Russia to attend the annual INNOPROM Industrial Forum in Yekaterinburg.
During the opening day of the forum, Haroon Akhtar toured various industrial exhibitions, gaining insights into Russia’s technological innovations and industrial strength, according to an official statement.
The visit is aimed at strengthening industrial cooperation between Pakistan and Russia, with discussions centered on possible joint ventures between enterprises from both countries.
The special assistant also held talks with Russian companies showing interest in mineral exploration in Pakistan. He highlighted the country’s vast natural resource reserves and its investor-friendly policies.
A significant meeting took place between Haroon Akhtar and Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov. The discussions focused on exploring ways to revive Pakistan Steel Mills, with both parties reviewing technical challenges and exploring avenues of support.
In addition, the two sides discussed expanding bilateral trade and promoting industrial collaboration. The Pakistani delegation presented details of Pakistan’s new Industrial Policy, designed to attract foreign investment and support domestic manufacturing.
Haroon Akhtar invited Russian firms to consider joint ventures in sectors such as electric transport, railway equipment, fertilizers, pharmaceuticals, and agricultural machinery, underlining the mutual benefits of cooperation.
The visit signals a positive step towards enhanced industrial and economic relations between Pakistan and Russia.
