Web Desk; Four terrorists were killed on Friday when security forces successfully thwarted a suicide attack on a military camp in Mir Ali, North Waziristan, according to state-run PTV.

Sources said that a terrorist, referred to as a “khariji,” rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the camp’s wall, attempting to breach the facility. Following the explosion, three more terrorists tried to enter the camp. Security forces immediately responded, killing all three attackers outside the premises. No personnel losses were reported.

In the last 48 hours alone, 88 terrorists allegedly supported by the Afghan Taliban have been killed in various operations.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi commended the security forces for their prompt and professional action. “Salute to the brave soldiers who thwarted the evil intentions of Khawarij,” he said, adding that the attackers were “brought to an exemplary end.”

This development follows the military’s announcement a day earlier that 34 “India-backed” terrorists were killed in multiple intelligence-based operations in North and South Waziristan and Bannu over the last three days.

Pakistan has witnessed a surge in terrorist attacks, mainly in KP and Balochistan, since the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) broke a ceasefire agreement in 2022.

Recent weeks have seen deadly clashes, including an intelligence-based operation in Orakzai that claimed the lives of a lieutenant colonel, a major, and nine other soldiers. Nineteen terrorists were killed in that operation, followed by a retribution operation that eliminated 30 more militants.

The government has officially designated the TTP as “Fitna al Khawarij,” instructing all institutions to use the term “khariji” for terrorist groups. Pakistan has also repeatedly raised concerns over TTP sanctuaries in Afghanistan and accused India of supporting cross-border terrorism, particularly in Balochistan.

Tensions between Islamabad and Kabul have escalated in recent days after cross-border clashes led both sides to agree to a 48-hour temporary ceasefire. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has stated that Kabul must take the first step if it genuinely wants dialogue on counterterrorism.
