
LAHORE: A no-confidence motion was passed in the Punjab Assembly (PA) on Monday against four opposition chairmen of standing committees for allegedly creating disorder in the house.
According to a notification issued by the PA Secretariat, the chairmen from the opposition benches have been formally removed from their posts. The notification details that:
- Ansar Iqbal has been removed as Chairman of the Standing Committee on Special Education.
- Rai Murtaza Iqbal has been dismissed from his role as Chairman of the Professional Management Committee.
- Ahsan Ali has been ousted from the Standing Committee on Colonies.
- Saima Kanwal has been removed as Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Education.
The decision comes amid heightened tensions between treasury and opposition members, with the ruling side accusing opposition lawmakers of disrupting assembly proceedings.
