Web Desk; The United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia have officially recognised the State of Palestine, citing Israel’s failure to meet conditions such as implementing a ceasefire in the nearly two-year-old Gaza conflict.
“Today, to revive the hope of peace for Palestinians and Israelis, and to advance a two-state solution, the United Kingdom formally recognises the State of Palestine,” British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced in a post on X.
In a separate statement, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong confirmed her country’s recognition of Palestine alongside Canada and the UK. She said the move was aimed at restoring momentum toward a two-state solution, beginning with a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of hostages held there.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney also issued a statement, declaring: “Canada recognises the State of Palestine and offers our partnership in building the promise of a peaceful future for both the State of Palestine and the State of Israel.”
