Uzbek, US Presidents Agree to Expand Strategic Partnership

TASHKENT/WASHINGTON; President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan and US President Donald Trump held a telephone conversation on September 5, during which the two leaders agreed to deepen their countries’ strategic partnership and broaden cooperation across multiple sectors.

According to an official statement, Trump praised the “irreversible reforms” underway in Uzbekistan aimed at modernizing the economy and improving citizens’ welfare. Mirziyoyev, in turn, congratulated Trump on what he described as the US administration’s achievements in domestic and foreign policy, while highlighting Washington’s role in promoting peace and global security.

The two sides discussed enhancing business collaboration and significantly boosting bilateral trade, which saw a 15 percent rise in 2024. Areas identified for future cooperation include civil aviation, critical mineral resources, electrical engineering, energy, agriculture, digital technologies, finance, innovation, and education.

Both leaders underlined their commitment to expanding multifaceted ties and maintaining momentum in the growth of trade and investment.
