ISLAMABAD; The Chinese Embassy in Pakistan has extended warm congratulations on the successful launch of Pakistan’s new remote sensing satellite from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in China, calling it a major step forward in the “iron brothers’” space cooperation.

In a statement, the embassy said:
“Warmly congratulate the successful launch of a new remote sensing satellite for Pakistan from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center, China! May this satellite further strengthen our iron brother’s capabilities in land resource survey and disaster prevention and alleviation.”

The satellite, developed under the supervision of the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), is designed to support national efforts in agricultural monitoring, urban planning, infrastructure development, and early warning systems for natural disasters like floods, landslides, and earthquakes.

This marks Pakistan’s second remote sensing satellite; the first, PRSS-1, was launched in July 2018 from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in China.

The Chinese Embassy’s message highlights the growing strategic and technological cooperation between China and Pakistan, particularly in the field of space exploration and Earth observation. The new satellite is expected to significantly enhance Pakistan’s scientific capabilities while contributing to environmental monitoring and sustainable development across the region.

The message is also seen as a reaffirmation of the deep-rooted Pakistan-China friendship, often described as “higher than the Himalayas and deeper than the oceans,” now expanding beyond Earth into space.
