Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched the second phase of the “CM Punjab Agriculture Internship Program,” designed exclusively for young agriculture graduates. The initiative aims to both uplift the agricultural sector and provide respectable employment opportunities to educated youth across the province.
Under this program, 2,000 agriculture graduates holding BSc Agriculture or BSc (Hons) Agricultural Engineering degrees will receive a monthly scholarship of PKR 60,000. Applicants can submit their applications to the office of the Deputy Director Agriculture (Extension) in their respective districts, with district-wise quotas already set for fair representation. An Agricultural Helpline (0800-17000) has also been activated to assist applicants and farmers alike.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif described the program as a step toward realizing her dream of a “golden-yielding Punjab.” She highlighted that the internship not only supports farmers in adopting modern agricultural practices but also provides gainful employment to young professionals.
She further emphasized that the province’s agriculture sector is undergoing rapid transformation through initiatives like the successful Kisan Card Program, Green Tractors Scheme, and the Tube Well Solarization Project. In addition, a new “Model Agriculture Mall” is in the pipeline to offer all agricultural services under one roof.
This comprehensive approach reflects the Punjab government’s commitment to modernizing agriculture, empowering youth, and enhancing productivity across rural communities.
