PESHAWAR; The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has summoned detailed reports from both the provincial and federal governments in multiple cases concerning missing persons.

On Friday, several petitions regarding enforced disappearances were heard by the PHC. Chief Justice (CJ) of the PHC expressed strong dissatisfaction over the authorities’ failure to submit reports in the cases of Fatima Bibi, Saiden Shah, Mujahid Khan, Khaista Jan, Roohul Amin, and Muhammad Habib Khan. The court directed the concerned respondents to submit their reports without further delay.

The Chief Justice sternly remarked, “Do not waste the court’s time—present the required reports promptly.”

During the proceedings, the Additional Advocate General (AAG) informed the court that Muhammad Saeed, one of the missing persons, is currently in Mardan Jail. Following this disclosure, the court disposed of the petition, terming it infructuous.

In another petition concerning Adnan Hakim Khan, the court was told that the individual is being held in a detention center in Lakki. The court subsequently sought a report from the Commissioner of Bannu.

Petitioner Muhammad Habib Khan appeared personally before the court and revealed that he had been abducted and illegally detained from April 24 to June 26 in Kohat, and was only released on June 26. He alleged police misconduct in his case.

The court wrapped up his petition and ordered an inquiry into the incident.

In the case of missing woman Kainat, the court directed that legal proceedings be initiated under the relevant laws and closed the petition accordingly.
