Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif Tuesday congratulated Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif on the United Kingdom’s decision to lift the ban on Pakistani flights.
The Prime Minister lauded the efforts of the Defence Minister and the Aviation Division, calling the resumption of flights a significant milestone for Pakistan’s international standing and connectivity.
During the meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office, Shehbaz Sharif acknowledged the persistent work of Khawaja Asif and his team in resolving the long-standing issue and restoring Pakistan’s aviation links with the UK. He emphasized that the move will not only facilitate travel for the Pakistani diaspora in the UK but also boost tourism and strengthen bilateral relations.
The Prime Minister noted that the flight ban was initially imposed due to irresponsible statements made by former leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), which harmed the country’s reputation. He expressed optimism that the restoration of air travel will mark a new chapter in improving Pakistan’s global image.
The meeting also included discussions on broader political and ministerial affairs.
