ISLAMABAD; President Asif Ali Zardari has issued an ordinance to restructure the Frontier Constabulary (FC), turning it into a nationwide force now known as the Federal Constabulary. The move comes through the Frontier Constabulary Re-Organization Ordinance 2025, which extends the jurisdiction of this rebranded force across all of Pakistan, including Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Under the new ordinance, the Federal Constabulary will assist in maintaining law and order, support other law enforcement agencies, and address a wide range of security challenges in a coordinated manner. The force will now have the authority to operate throughout the four provinces as well as Islamabad.
The ordinance outlines that the Federal Constabulary will be organized into two key divisions: a security division and a federal reserve division. Recruitment will take place nationwide, with dedicated offices established across Pakistan to facilitate this process. Additionally, comprehensive rules and regulations will be framed to govern the workings of the force.
This transformation marks a significant expansion of the former FC’s role, aiming to bolster internal security and provide the federal government with a flexible force capable of responding to diverse law and order situations anywhere in the country.
