Tehran: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has vowed that the “punishment will continue” against Israel, issuing a stark warning in his first public statement on social media since the United States joined Israeli attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities.
According to Al Jazeera, Khamenei’s post stated, “The Zionist enemy has made a big mistake, committed a big crime; it must be punished and it is being punished; it is being punished right now.” The message was accompanied by a provocative image depicting a burning skull adorned with the Star of David against a backdrop of burning buildings, underscoring the severity of the threat.
This pronouncement comes after Iran launched a retaliatory missile assault on Israel, causing significant damage and injuries, and amidst a decision by the Iranian Parliament to potentially close the Strait of Hormuz.
The Supreme Leader’s remarks signal a sustained and uncompromising stance against Israel, further exacerbating fears of a broader regional war. While his statement focused on Israel, it follows the direct involvement of the US in the recent attacks on Iranian nuclear sites.
