ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday issued a notice to the Election Commission (EC) and sought its response on a miscellaneous petition filed by the PTI-Parliamentarians regarding the allocation of reserved seats in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
Justice Inam Amin Minhas took up the petition for hearing. Appearing before the court, counsels for the petitioners, including Sultan Muhammad Khan and Tufail Shahzad, argued that their party is entitled to reserved seats in the KP Assembly in proportion to its share, and requested the court to ensure these seats are allocated accordingly.
During the proceedings, Justice Inam Amin Minhas inquired whether the notification related to the 2024 reserved seats had been suspended by the court. In response, counsel Sultan Muhammad Khan clarified that no such suspension had occurred and that the main case was still pending adjudication.
After briefly hearing the arguments, Justice Minhas remarked that the court would issue a notice to the Election Commission, allowing it to submit its response, after which the matter would be further examined.
The court then formally issued the notice to the EC and directed it to file a reply. Subsequently, the hearing was adjourned to a date to be fixed later.
