Islamabad (Web-Desk) Youm-e-Ashur, the 10th of Muharram-ul-Haram, is being solemnly observed across Pakistan today, paying deep homage to the unparalleled sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (Razi Allah ho Ta’ala Anho) and his devoted companions who embraced martyrdom at Karbala.
The day serves as a profound reminder of the timeless message of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A.)—to uphold the true spirit and values of Islam even in the face of oppression. His stand at Karbala continues to inspire countless believers around the world, emphasizing steadfastness, sacrifice, and commitment to truth.

In every city and town across the country, mourning processions are being carried out to commemorate this supreme act of devotion. Ulema and Zakireen are addressing gatherings, shedding light on the luminous teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A.) and reflecting on various aspects of the tragic events at Karbala. Through their sermons, they are urging the faithful to embody patience, unity, and resilience, values exemplified by Imam Hussain and his loyal companions.
To ensure that the observances proceed peacefully, comprehensive security measures have been put in place nationwide. Law enforcement agencies remain on high alert, particularly during the processions and majalis of 9th and 10th Muharram, to preempt any potential threat to public safety. A zero-tolerance approach towards sectarianism and the incitement of religious hatred is being strictly enforced.

A coordinated security plan, formulated through collaboration between federal and provincial authorities, is actively being implemented. This plan includes the establishment of control rooms at both federal and provincial levels to oversee and respond to the security situation in real time. Surveillance has been intensified in 1,129 sensitive areas across the country, utilizing drones and CCTV cameras to maintain round-the-clock vigilance.
Today, a total of 2,763 mourning processions and 7,598 majalis are taking place across Islamabad, Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. These gatherings are being closely monitored to ensure the safety of participants and to uphold public order.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, along with Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry and Secretary Interior Khurram Agha, are personally overseeing the security operations. They are coordinating efforts from central monitoring points to ensure all necessary measures are effectively enforced and to address any emerging situation promptly.
In their messages on this occasion, religious scholars have called upon the nation to draw inspiration from the unwavering stand of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A.). They emphasized that the tragedy of Karbala is not merely a historical incident but a guiding beacon for all Muslims, teaching them to stand firm against tyranny and uphold justice. Thus, as Pakistan observes Youm-e-Ashur with due reverence, it renews its collective pledge to follow the values of sacrifice, unity, and moral courage demonstrated by Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A.), keeping alive the spirit of Karbala for generations to come.
