BANNU (MNN); Two terrorists were killed late Sunday night after they attacked a police mobile van on Chashmi Road in the Domail area of Bannu, police officials said.
According to police sources, the attackers opened fire on the police vehicle, prompting immediate retaliatory action. During the exchange of fire, two terrorists were shot dead. Station House Officer Sadar Nawaz Khan, who was inside the police van at the time of the attack, remained unhurt.
In a related incident, terrorists targeted infrastructure by blowing up the Khaiswar connecting bridge within the jurisdiction of Merian police station. Authorities said explosives had been planted on the bridge, causing damage and disrupting the link road.
Meanwhile, security forces carried out a successful intelligence-based operation in Panjgur district of Balochistan, the Inter Services Public Relations said in a statement.
According to the ISPR, the operation was conducted on January 25, 2026, after reports of the presence of terrorists affiliated with Fitna al Hindustan, described as an Indian-sponsored proxy group. Security forces engaged the militants’ hideout, and following a fierce exchange of fire, three terrorists were killed.
Those eliminated included local terrorist commander Farooq alias Soro, along with Adeel and Waseem. The ISPR said weapons, ammunition and explosives were recovered from the terrorists, who were involved in multiple acts of terrorism in the area.
The ISPR added that sanitisation operations are ongoing to clear the area of any remaining terrorists. It reaffirmed that security forces and law enforcement agencies will continue counterterrorism operations under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” strategy, approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan, to eliminate foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
