ISLAMABAD (MNN); Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Monday met Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Federal Secretary Information Ashfaq Ahmed Khalil and Principal Information Officer Mubashir Hassan.
During the meeting at the Senate Chairman’s residence, Federal Minister Attaullah Tarar, along with his delegation, presented a digital album of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference to the Senate Chairman.
Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani appreciated the outstanding media coverage of the conference and thanked the federal information minister and his team for their efforts. He said the positive impacts of the conference were now clearly visible.
The Senate Chairman said the central theme of the conference was peace, security and development. He added that the Islamabad Declaration was unanimously adopted during the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference, stressing the promotion of global peace and sustainable development.
He said the declaration reaffirmed commitment to establishing a global system based on the principles of the United Nations. Gilani also praised the role of the federal information minister, the federal secretary information and the PIO for their contribution to the successful organisation of the conference.
The Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference, hosted by the Senate of Pakistan, was led by Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani. He termed the event a milestone in the promotion of parliamentary diplomacy.
He said distinguished speakers and parliamentarians from across the world participated in the conference, describing it as a historic and decisive development. He added that the successful hosting of the conference helped project a positive image of Pakistan at the global level.
Federal Minister Attaullah Tarar said that under the leadership of the Senate Chairman, parliamentary diplomacy brought different countries onto a single platform. He added that the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference effectively highlighted Pakistan’s stance at international forums.
