PESHAWAR: Peshawar High Court (PHC) has given 90 days time to NHA for construction of National Highway.
The court has sought details of development process and security plan on next hearing.
Expressing resentment over dilapidated condition of National High way, delay and poor security in Southern districts Chief Justice (CJ) PHC S.M. Attique Shah remarked work is never completed on high way. It continues all time. This will not be allowed to run so. Life of VIP and common man is equal. Complete surveillance is there on motorway. But there is no arrangement of security from Yarik to DI Khan and Kirk to Yarik. Is there no value of life of common man.
He gave these remarks on Thursday.
The court issued order to NHA to complete the construction of road within 90 days making it clear no further delay will be accepted.
The CJ PHC remarked this road is used by common man, therefore, it is in this condition. But it will not be allowed to happen so.
Justice Faheem Wali remarked no progress is there since the last 6 months. Now more time cannot be given.
NHA said there is shortage of funds. Rs 7 billion is required for completion of the road while only Rs 1.5 billions have been provided so far.
The court ordered this all amount be spent on safety of road and no more time than 90 days can be given.
The court sought details of development process and security plan on next hearing besides adjourning the hearing.
