RAWALPINDI (MNN); The country’s top military leadership on Wednesday reaffirmed its resolve that no political or other malicious agenda aimed at weakening national unity, security or stability would be tolerated, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The resolve was expressed during the 273rd Corps Commanders’ Conference held at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi and chaired by Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of the Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir.
According to the ISPR, the forum strongly rejected any link between terrorism, criminal activity and vested political interests, making it clear that no attempt to create divisions between the armed forces and the people of Pakistan would be allowed.
The participants paid tribute to security personnel who embraced martyrdom during counter-terrorism operations, as well as civilians who lost their lives in recent terrorist incidents. The forum noted that Pakistan’s steady progress towards stability and prosperity was the result of collective efforts by the government, the armed forces and law enforcement agencies.
The army high command also carried out a detailed review of the internal and external security situation, with a focus on emerging threats and operational preparedness.
The participants reaffirmed that all terrorists operating under the patronage of Indian sponsors, along with their facilitators and supporters, would be dealt with firmly and without discrimination.
The forum also appreciated the Balochistan Special Development Initiatives, describing them as focused on empowering local communities and addressing governance-related challenges linked to terrorism. It stressed the need for similar public-oriented initiatives in other regions in line with the National Action Plan to ensure lasting peace and stability.
According to the ISPR, the conference reiterated Pakistan’s principled support for the right to self-determination of the people of Kashmir and Palestine. The participants also called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, unhindered humanitarian access and a clear pathway towards the establishment of a Palestinian state.
In his concluding remarks, Field Marshal Asim Munir directed commanders to maintain the highest levels of operational readiness, discipline, training, physical fitness and technological advancement.
He expressed full confidence in the Pakistan Army’s ability to effectively counter the full spectrum of threats, including conventional, sub-conventional, hybrid and asymmetric challenges, while safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
