Web Desk (MNN): The World Bank has approved $700 million in financing for Pakistan under a multi-year initiative aimed at strengthening the country’s macroeconomic stability and improving the delivery of public services.
The funding comes through the Public Resources for Inclusive Development – Multiphase Programmatic Approach (PRID-MPA), which could provide up to $1.35 billion in total support.
Under the programme, $600 million is allocated for the federal government and $100 million for Sindh province. The initiative focuses on promoting macroeconomic stability, reforming the tax system, enhancing transparency in public financial management, and improving public service delivery.
The World Bank said the programme also aims to strengthen digital data and financial systems, increasing efficiency and the reach of public services.
It aligns with the International Monetary Fund’s Extended Fund Facility (EFF) and is expected to boost resources for health and education sectors in Sindh.
The reforms are designed to enhance fiscal transparency and public trust, contributing to stronger governance and more sustainable economic growth, while supporting broader social welfare objectives.
