Pakistan slams India as “majoritarian autocracy” at UN, alleges sponsorship of terrorism

United Nations, New York: Pakistan has strongly asserted at the United Nations General Assembly that India has “descended into a majoritarian autocracy” where all minorities, including Muslims, Christians, and Dalits, live under siege.

Responding to India’s statement at the General Assembly, Rabia Ijaz, Second Secretary at the Pakistan Mission, categorically stated that Jammu and Kashmir “never was nor is an integral part of India.” She reiterated that the United Nations recognizes it as a disputed territory, a position consistent with UN Security Council resolutions.

Rabia Ijaz also accused India of sponsoring terrorism, claiming it is “equally well-documented.” She cited specific incidents, including the 2014 Army Public School massacre and the recent school bus attack in Khuzdar, stating that “the fingerprints of Indian intelligence agencies are evident.” She further alleged that India continues to wage a “covert war against Pakistan” through its support to the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).

These strong remarks from Pakistan come amidst ongoing tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors and a heightened diplomatic exchange at international forums. Pakistan has consistently raised concerns about the treatment of minorities in India and the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, while also accusing India of supporting various militant groups operating within its borders. India, in turn, has frequently accused Pakistan of being an “epicenter of terrorism” and sponsoring cross-border attacks.
