RAWALPINDI (MNN); Security forces eliminated 13 terrorists in two separate intelligence-based operations carried out in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the military’s media wing reported on Friday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the first joint IBO was conducted in the Pahar Khel area of Lakki Marwat by security forces and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD). Troops engaged the militants’ hideout, and following an intense exchange of fire, ten TTP-linked fighters were killed.

The CTD confirmed that two key commanders of the Teepo Gul group were among the dead: Commander Niaz Ali, known as Akasha, and Commander Abdullah, known as Shipunkoi. Five militants were injured, while one facilitator was arrested during the operation.

In a separate operation in Dera Ismail Khan, security forces killed three more terrorists. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the militants, whom ISPR described as Indian-sponsored individuals involved in attacks on security forces, law enforcement, and civilians.

The military stated that sanitisation of the area is ongoing as part of the continuing counter-terrorism campaign under the Azm-i-Istehkam framework, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan.

Earlier this week, ISPR said that 38 terrorists were neutralised in four operations over three days as Pakistan faces a rise in militant attacks, particularly in KP and Balochistan. Analysts have linked the surge to the TTP’s decision to end its ceasefire in November 2022.
