RAWALPINDI (MNN); Pakistan’s security forces have killed seven terrorists in three separate operations carried out across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the military’s media wing said on Thursday.
According to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement, the militants — described as members of the “Indian proxy Fitna-al-Khawarij,” a term used for the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) — were neutralised in operations conducted on November 18 and 19.
The first intelligence-based operation (IBO) was launched in Mohmand district after reports of terrorist presence. ISPR said troops engaged the militants’ hideout and, following intense firing, four terrorists were “sent to hell.”
A second IBO in Lakki Marwat resulted in the killing of two more militants, while a third encounter in Tank district saw security personnel eliminate another terrorist.
The ISPR added that sanitisation operations were underway to clear the area of any remaining “Indian-sponsored kharji.”
It reiterated that the ongoing counterterror campaign under Azm-i-Istehkam, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, would continue “at full pace” to eradicate foreign-backed terrorism.
The latest update comes just two days after security forces reported killing 38 militants in four IBOs across KP. Those operations included one in Dera Ismail Khan’s Kulachi area, where ten militants — including ringleader Alam Mehsud — were killed.
Five more were eliminated in Datta Khel, North Waziristan, while 11 and 12 terrorists were neutralised in Bajaur and Bannu, respectively.
Last week, ISPR confirmed the killing of 24 militants in three encounters across KP and Balochistan.
Pakistan has recently witnessed a sharp rise in terror incidents, particularly in KP and Balochistan, following the TTP’s withdrawal from a ceasefire in November 2022.
A report released last month by the Centre for Research and Security Studies noted a surge in violence over the past three months, driven by intensified militant attacks and robust counterterror operations.
