ISLAMABAD (MNN); The Embassy of Romania in Islamabad, in collaboration with P@SHA and Romania’s ANIS, organised the Romania–Pakistan IT Forum 2025 on 20 November, bringing together over 100 technology companies from both countries.

The virtual forum served as an important step toward strengthening digital ties and expanding cooperation between the two growing IT sectors.

The event opened with remarks from senior government officials. Romania’s Minister of Economy, Digitalisation, Entrepreneurship and Tourism, Radu-Dinel Miruță, and Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Khalid Hussain Magsi, emphasised the strategic importance of deepening bilateral collaboration in the tech industry.

Ambassador Dr. Dan Stoenescu and ambassador-designate Ilyas Nizami also highlighted the forum’s role in fostering economic growth and supporting people-to-people connections.

Minister Miruță said it was essential for both sides to identify strong foundations for future cooperation. Drawing on his experience as a former software engineer, he praised the professionalism and creativity of Pakistani engineers and expressed confidence in the potential of future partnerships. Romania was further represented by Andrei Miftode, Under-Secretary of State for digitalisation and PNRR coordination.

Minister Magsi noted that while Romania remains an emerging destination for Pakistan’s IT exports, the scope for collaboration is expanding.

He called for more frequent business interactions, delegations and participation in major tech events in both countries. He also encouraged Romanian companies to join Pakistan’s leading technology platforms, including ITCN Asia and the DFDI Forum.

Industry leaders Sajjad Syed of P@SHA and Edward Crețescu of ANIS presented detailed overviews of the IT environments in both countries, highlighting their complementary strengths and the potential for joint projects in software development, digital transformation and IT-enabled services.

The forum featured presentations from major tech companies. Romania was represented by UiPath, Bitdefender and SIMAVI, while Pakistani firms such as Mercurial Minds, Alfoze Technologies, Systems Limited and Metaviz Ltd showcased their capabilities.

These presentations underscored opportunities for cooperation in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, fintech, automation and other emerging fields.

Case studies of existing business partnerships between Pakistani and Romanian firms were also shared, demonstrating how trust and shared interests have already led to successful joint ventures.

The Romania–Pakistan IT Forum 2025 provided a valuable platform for dialogue, networking and idea-sharing, reaffirming both countries’ commitment to expanding their digital partnership. With strong interest from the private sector, the forum helped build momentum for future collaborations and long-term sectoral growth.
