Punjab Orders Immediate Freeze of All TLP Assets and Properties

LAHORE (MNN); The Punjab government on Thursday directed the freezing of all assets and properties belonging to the banned Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), according to an official notification.
The order, issued by the Punjab Home Department, instructed all commissioners and deputy commissioners to take urgent measures to enforce the directive. Copies of the notification were forwarded to the Board of Revenue, as well as the housing and cooperative departments, to ensure coordinated implementation across all relevant bodies.
The home department has also asked the concerned departments to submit a detailed report once the freezing of TLP’s assets and properties is completed.
The decision was taken under the oversight of Punjab Sub-Cabinet Committee on Law and Order Chairman Khawaja Salman Rafique. TLP was declared a proscribed outfit under the Anti-Terrorism Act following violent demonstrations in October. The Punjab administration had earlier instructed full enforcement of the restrictions imposed on the organisation’s activities and financial operations.
After the ban, the provincial government handed over the management of TLP-linked seminaries to religious scholar Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rahman.
An agreement was reached between Tanzeem-ul-Madaris Ahl-e-Sunnat Pakistan and the Punjab government to gradually transfer administrative control of 177 seminaries and 330 mosques previously affiliated with the outlawed TLP.
Sahibzada Abdul Mustafa Hazarvi, Nazim-e-Aala of the board, assured the provincial authorities that Tanzeem-ul-Madaris would assume responsibility for these institutions and adhere to the conditions set by the government.
The memorandum also pledged that all associated seminaries and mosques would uphold national security, state stability, and communal harmony, while distancing themselves from any form of violence or disorder.
