WANA; At least two terrorists were killed on Monday during an attack on Cadet College Wana in South Waziristan, as security forces conducted a clearance operation, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported.
According to the military’s media wing, terrorists initially attempted to breach the college perimeter, but their effort was foiled by the “vigilant and resolute response” of security personnel.
Later, attackers rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the main gate, collapsing it and damaging an adjacent structure. They then entered the college and were cornered inside the administrative block.
The ISPR stated that the intruders, belonging to the banned TTP group referred to as Fitna al Khawarij, received instructions from handlers in Afghanistan.
“This act of barbarism contradicts the Afghan Taliban Regime’s claims of non-presence of these groups on their soil,” it added. Pakistan reserves the right to act against the terrorists and their leadership in Afghanistan.
The military noted that the attack mirrored the 2014 Army Public School Peshawar tragedy, in which 147 people, including 132 students, were martyred.
“These terrorists aim to intimidate the youth of the tribal areas, who are striving for quality education and a better future for themselves and their communities,” the ISPR said.
Earlier Monday, the ISPR also reported that at least 20 terrorists were killed in North Waziristan and Dara Adam Khel. Terror activities have surged in KP and Balochistan since TTP ended its ceasefire in November 2022, targeting security personnel and law enforcement agencies.
